Frequently Asked Questions

Please bring in your bike by 10:30am on the day of your service, we will contact you as soon as your bike is ready for collection. If you would like to drop the bike off on the day before, please get in touch first. We open at 10am Monday to Friday and are normally closed at weekends.

Please make sure your bike is clean from mud and dirt when bringing it in for a service. If we are unable to do the work due to excess dirt, we may need to charge a £20 cleaning fee.

Please allow 2 – 5 days. There may be further delays if we have to order parts for your bike that are not held in stock. We will let you know if there is going to be a delay and give you an estimated completion time.

Please let us know at least 24 hours before your bike is due for its service.

This all depends on how much you use your bike. If you’re a commuter and use it every day, we would recommend a service every 3-4 months or 500 miles. If you are a casual or hobby user and ride at weekends we would recommend every 5-6 months, usually either side of the winter. If you are a very occasional user – perhaps fair weather or on holiday – then a yearly service should be sufficient.

We normally ask you to bring in your bike to the shop for its service. If you have booked a Platinum Service Plan or Gold Service and live within 5 miles of the workshop, please get in touch. We may be able to offer a pick up but this is subject to availability as the workshop gets very busy.

A Platinum Service includes a full strip down, all components removed off the frame; headset, hubs, linkage and bottom bracket regreased as required; drive train parts and components washed; all parts lubricated and reinstalled to manufacture torque standards. Parts and suspension advisory, therefore replacement parts and suspension servicing are not included in the package. You get 1 Platinum Service per year with your subscription. You also get Unlimited Repairs, go to the Unlimited Repairs FAQ to see what is included there.

Unlimited Repairs include gear tune ups, brake bleeds, hubs service, linkage service, bottom brackets, wheel tru, hanger alignment, E-bike software updates, warranty claims. Note this is not a full strip down service and is intended for addressing stand-alone issues. Parts and suspension advisory, therefore replacement parts and suspension servicing are not included in the package.

The service is exactly the same, however the annual subscription payment plan cost works out to be 11 months out of 12, effectively saving you 1 month’s cost of £19.99.

Your subscription plan is an annual contract, therefore when you cancel you will still be liable to settle any remaining charges relating to the current contract year. You will still be entitled to your Platinum Service if you haven’t had one yet, as well as Unlimited Repairs for the remainder of the current contract year. Your subscription payment charges will automatically stop at the end of the current contract year (the contract year within which you issued your cancellation notification). We would be sorry to see you leave.

With either plan, a monthly payment subscription at £19.99 per month, or the annual payment subscription for £219.89 per year your pricing is fixed for the current contract year. Your contract will roll into a new contract year unless you cancel your subscription. Inflationary pricing reviews can be carried out at the end of each contract year at the discretion of Spanner & Spoke. Annual contract renewals and pricing reviews will not be passed through without prior written communication.
